Why Detroit Has A Facade Ordinance And Requires Inspections

Many of the buildings in Detroit are nearing 100 years old. With age, issues with the facades begin to develop. In the photo at left decroative stone pilaster weighing over 100 pounds is pulling away from the building and will fall to the street or sidewalk below if not repaired. The facade inspection required by the City of Detroit was established to find these issues for obvious safety reasons. During a facade inspection, many photos are taken and notes are made. After doing our inspection, a report will be written with our findings and recommendations. Because we can generally use a drone to do inspections our prices are often less than our competitors.

Windows are an area of potential problems. Crumbling window sills can also begin to fall apart and drop to the street or sidewalk below. Some window components may need minor repairs or replacement.
